I replaced the old timer on my Kinmore washer. The timer was supposed to be an exact match to the woolpool timer. I replaced it and put the original knob on and I cannot pull the knob out enough for the washer to start. If I hold the knob out far enough or push it in slightly and hold it it runs. Seems to be mechanical. Do I have a bad replacement timer or is there a problem with the knob, or something else?

Sounds very much like you got a bad replacement. Get the seller to replace it and see if that fixes things.
