Hi. Our washer power light is on, but it won't start up. Background: The door lock broke off a few years ago, but I superglued it back on. The washer worked fine, but the door switch has been making a buzzing noise. So we would lean a heavy box against the door and the buzz would lessen greatly. The other day, the lower locking arm broke back off. I glued it back on, but now the washer won't do anything.

The door lock light comes on, but nothing will happen, no matter where I set the dial - no water, no noise, no nothing. It would seem that the door switch isn't recognizing the door closed, yet the door lock light is on. I did try to trick it by inserting screw drivers into the two latch holes, but still nothing.

I've read many posts indicating that the door switch is likely bad, but we are very poor and can't afford to replace it if not absolutely necessary. Is there a way to test, diagnose, or even rig it to work?

Thanks so much for any advice.

You have amazed me with your glue fix, that it has worked thus far is a minor miracle.

It is almost impossible to test that switch effectively, but given your history, go ahead and replace it. If the replacement does not fix things and you buy from this site you can return it, see the returns policy for details and conditions.

Thank you for the info. I'll be ordering the part. I presume it would be the door switch (Manufacturer part no 131888900) and not the door lock assembly (131763202).

Also, I did buy a new door latch and stuck it in the lock assembly. The lock assembly makes a terrible buzzing noise. This is it possible for the lock assembly to be causing nothing to work, even though the lock light comes on?

I think the door lock light can come on as long as the machine thinks the door is locked, even if it is not.
