Hello,

I had a problem with my washer where the water wasn't stopping to fill during the initial cycle (wash), so after doing some research, I was able to identify the problem to be the water level switch. I ordered this part (AP2915842, Part# 3966789) and the problem has now gone away. Strangely enough the water does stop filling correctly at the wash cycle, but now won't stop filling during the rinse cycle. Any ideas why this might be?

Here are your parts
Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL LCR7244DQ3 | AppliancePartsPros.com

Here is service tech sheets
https://www.servicematters.com/docs/...%203967457.pdf
https://www.servicematters.com/docs/...%203966815.pdf

Hopefully the above will help.
I would try different cycles and water temperatures, perhaps the unit does something strange if only filling with cold during rinse.

I would do as much testing as possible using the tech sheets.

If it ends up by the process of elimination that the control board is a likely culprit, it may not be worth fixing.

Hopefully someone with experience on this unit will jump in and supply a easy solution.

Hello,
Actually, now the water doesn't stop filling wash mode also. It worked the first time. Do you think something in the washer is damaging the water level switch?

I am assuming that you can stop the filling by turning the dial to off or unplugging the unit.

Washer should not be able to mess up the level switch unless it is somehow getting water up the tube into the switch's bellows.

I would get a piece of tubing with the same internal diameter as the pressure tube. Attach this to the level switch, start a fill then blow into this tube. You should be able to stop the fill without having to blow very hard.
If you cannot stop it, the switch is toast.

If the above is OK. Then put your finger over the machines fill tube and start a fill, you should be able to feel the pressure in the tube build up. Another way would be to put the end of the tube into a glass of water as it fills there should be bubbles forced out of the tube.

I cannot see how the tube attaches to the tub, some simply run down inside, others are attached to a fitting on the outside tub. Sometimes a piece of crud can get into the tube and stop the water from entering.
The above will confirm this or that you have a hole/crack in the tubing.
Sometimes just blowing into the tube will clear it but since you had the problem and then it worked once it is probably best to confirm this. You may have cleared it the first time but it is floating around and will just re-clog it again. You may have to take the unit apart to clear it.

Thank you for the helpful suggestions.

I am not sure if the original water level switch was bad, but now that it's fixed, I'm not taking chances. I went to the hardware store to purchase a new tube to run it from the tank directly to the switch. I suspect that there was a slow leak in the connection between the water level switch and the plastic cover.

Again, thanks so much. I think appliancepartspro has a great product and support system. I would buy again from this site just because you guys are providing such a valuable service.
