A noise is heard when the agitator is moving. The goes in one direction only and it sounds like a gear is slipping when the agitator tries to go in the other direction. Its like swish, noise, swish, noise, swish, noise.
The lower part of the agitator turns in one direction and the cloths get rapped around the agitator.
Is it the tranny? Or something repairable?

Pull the agitator out and check for problems. Look at the dogs, but if the sound is coming from the transmission then it is likely the problem.
