I have a Whirlpool washer top load, sometimes the water does not drain out completely and requires an extra spin cycle. This is not on every load and occurs on different types of laundry. It seems to be very random and no specfic cause. When this occurs not only water standing in the bottom of the tub/agitator (1 inch of water) the laundry is very wet. The extra spin cycles solves the problem. The next loads works fine. However on occasion it happens back to back but not often.

Watch it when it soes in spin mode. If power is not interupted for a few seconds during the spin period, you need a new timer.
