on rinse cycle only, machine fills, agitates then stops and you can hear a humming sound. If you are there when it happens, you push in button and wait 15-20 min, then pull button and it will finish cycle. If you are not there when the machine starts to hum, the timer will continue to end of cycle, but water is still in the tub. So then you can turn timer back to rinse cycle and machine will finish the cycle. Very repeatable, does not get better or worse for at least 3 weeks now. does this on all cycles, normal, permanent press and delicate? Makes no difference if you set to long wash cycle or just a minute or two, always stops at the same point in rinse cycle

Since it will ultimately work mechanically your problem suggests a problem with the timer. That is where I would start looking and replacing.
