My washing machine just stopped working at the end of a load. Washer was still full of water. I unplugged it, and restarted and it made a clicking sound at the knob but not in the tub, untill after a couple more tries. Took most of the water out the tub, unplugged again to reset motor. This time the tub spins but its slow and sounds as if there were a belt it would be slipping, but i know this washer doesnt have a belt. My question is could it be the coupling or motor coupler as others have suggested or could it be something else? And on a scale of 1-10, how hard would it be to replace this part, being that it is in between two major components. Or should I just buy another washer. NOOOOOOOOO

Pull the outer cover off. Remove the pump and motor and turn the tranny coupler clockwise. If very hard to turn when spin engages, you have bad brake shoes.
