Post Fills and stops
Model Number: A9200   Brand: Maytag   Age: More than 10 years

The washer will fill and not advance, replaced timer motor to no avail.
To begin the cycle after filling requires a bump IE fist to the top, jolt to control panel, will start the timer motor and continue the cycle.

The first thing I would check is the water level switch. Check for continuity between terminals 7 and 16. If it's open replace the switch.

- The part number for the water level switch AP245700

I need more specific information describing the problem with your washer.

The model number you posted is incomplete.

I'm having a similar problem with a Maytag A9200. It fills then, stops working. If I drop the lid, it kicks on. I replaced the lid switch, but that didn't work.

How can I determine which terminals are which (ie, 16 and 7)? It looks like some of the wires have the numbers on them. Are those the terminal numbers that I'm looking for?

I unplugged the washer and attempted to test the continuity between 16 and 7 and it appears that its a closed connection. Is the test still valid with the washer unplugged? Is it safe to test it while its plugged in? Sorry, I'm a newbie at washer repair.

Any help is appreciated!

Sounds like the problem is with the lid switch. Which part of the lid switch did you replace?

You can find the more specific instructions in the service manual.

I replaced the actual switch. I believe it is Maytag part # 2-05415.

Thanks for pointing out the service manual!

Default Whirlpool washer spin and agitate inop

I have a whirlpool washer, model# LA5668XSW1, that will not go into the agitate or spin cycles unless I grab the drum and either work it back and forth or try to spin the drum by hand. I can hear the motor humming as if jambed and if I do not catch it quick enough the washer kicks off. On the older washing machines they had a "wig-wag" solenoid. I do not see this on the direct drive model. Where do I go from here?

The first thing I would check is the motor wire harness and the motor plug connections.

Also check the capacitor (#34 on the controls and rear panel break down diagram).

If there is nothing wrong then the motor start winding is bad and the motor has to be replaced.

- The part number for the motor is AP2905451

- The part number for the capacitor is AP3866194

- Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool washer Model LA5668XSW1

Good luck.
