My washing machine agitates the clothes during the wash cycle, but when it switches to spin, the water drains and the agitator continues to operate, but the drum does not spin with the clothes... so at the end of the cycle, the clothes are still very wet due to lack of spinning.

I have inspected the belt and it seems fine, but the machine doesn't switch to a spin cycle.

Any ideas what the problem can be?

Try changing out the thrust washer, this part here
