Model Number: mav7200aww   Brand: Maytag   Age: 1 - 5 years   

hi. when setting washer to cold cold only get warm .get warm when set on warm wash .get hot when set on hot.if i am gettin warm there should be cold . the valve it takes is part #12002158 it has 6 connectors 2 for hot +2 for cold +2 wires going to resistor .can this be problem .i replaced temp selector switch ,no change thanks

The part on the water valve which you called "resistor" actually is a thermistor. It reads the water temperature for the control board.

Check the thermistor terminals and replace the water valve if they are corroded. This is the most common cause for such problem but a few times I had to replace the water temperature control board together with the water valve. Especially if the indicator light on the control panel does not turn on.

There are two different kind of the water valve used for this washer depend on the first two digits in the serial number.

- The part number for the water valve with less the 18 series AP251433


The water valve AP251433




- The part number for the water valve with 18 and above series AP3763000



The water valve AP3763000





- The part number for the water temperature control board AP3158221
