my top loading whirlpool won't spin.

i can start the load and it fills with water, agitates and then the timer humms or buzzes.

i took of the water pump and that spins, the motor spins, i jumped the lid switch and same humming sound.

the sound definately is coming from the switch behind the "cylce control knob"

is the timer switch bad...i am mechanically good but not electrially good in regards to taking things apart and reassemblying them...i found the part on line but i don't want to spend $100 on a new switch to find out that it is something else.

i believe the motor and everything else is good because it does agitate no problem.

i also checked the hoses and pump housing and there is no blockage anywhere that i can see.

TIA

Try changing out the timer. If you buy from this site (no we who reply do not work for APP, we are volunteers) and the part does not fix the problem you can return it. See the returns policy for details and conditions.

I assume you also checked to see that nothing is caught between the tub and basket.

Good luck.
