I have a apartmnt size kenmore washer with the dryer on top. Model #98702. It will not drain. I have fixed this problem before by moving the drain hose on the back of the washer up or down. But this time that doesnt seem to be working. I opened the front and checked to see if water was draning out of the tub, which it is. Checked the motor which seems to be working. If I lower the hose in the back it will drain but then the tub will not fill up it continues to drain. If I raise the hose it will fill but then it will not drain unless I lower the hose.

Sounds like a problem with the pump. It will drain when you lower the hose because the water is siphoning out. When you raise the hose the siphon is broken but now it sounds like the pump is not working.

If you need more help please post a full model number and tell us what happened after you check out the pump.
