Model Number: LA412   Brand: Maytag   Age: More than 10 years

I have a maytag washer that is making a metel on metel grinding noise ( like a bearing going bad ). It sounds as if it is coming from between the two tubs. Whats the trick to seperating the two tubs?

The first thing I would recommend to do is remove the front panel and check for water leak from the central seal.
Sounds like the problem is a bad central bearing and usually it happens when the central seal is leaking.

Inspect the washer and post your findings.

Gene.
