It started about 2 weeks ago. The washer will spin ( in rinses and spin cycles). However, is will not drain or drain slowly. It is not suds lock. It will spin/drain out the water if I take the clothes out to let the water spin out. Then I put the clothes in and it will usually spin out.

I noticed that if I tap the motor ( it actually moves) it will start spinning faster. The belt also gets hot. Could the belt be slipping and need repalcing or is it more involved than that.

yes
look under it make sure your belt is on it and tight with no slack if it has slack try to tighten up if you can't tighten then you probaly need new belt. the belt makes it spin.

I would tip the washer over and see if the belt is not bad, if so, order it here AP4024823. Also, check all the plastic pulleys for flat marks. Also, check the motor spring, may have popped off.
