My whrilpool Model LSQ9210HQ0 washer is making a knocking sound during the agitation cycle. It is fine during spin just a problem during agitation. I checked the upper part of the 2 piece agitator and it only moves freely in one direction. When the agitator is going the inner tub moves slightly as the agitatior is going maybe 1/2 inch. I am not sure if that is normal. Everything washes fine and everything works as it should. It just has this knocking sound during the agitation cycle. Any ideas?

If the noise is coming from the agitator try changing out the cams or agitator dogs. It is an easy and inexpensive repair.

Changed out the dogs and the holder and still has the same knocking noise. It only happens during agitation cycle. Spin cycle is OK. knocking sound only comes during the agitation cycle. Agitator moves freely both ways on bottom when empty. Top only moves in one direction as it should. Any other ideas on what else it could be?

Noises are very difficult for us to diagnose without being there to hear the noise and listen to where it is coming from.

I would take off the cabinet and operate the machine (you may have to by-pass the lid switch) and see if it is coming from the transmission are

How hard is it to remove the cabinet on this machine? Any tips on how I can do this?
