Model Number: WDSR2080D Brand: GE Age: 5 - 10 years
I have an older model GE WDSR2080D washer. A towel or something was stuck underneath the agitator and a friend attempted to fix it by yanking hard on it. The agitator, the coupler, AND the bolt ALL came off together. Is there a way to remove the coupler from inside agitator without ruining both? The top of the agitator has a built in lint trap making it impossible to reach the bolt that way. Is it likely the bolt is broken too? I can't tell by looking at the motor shaft. Please help! Money's tight and I'd like to fix this myself if possible instead of calling a repairman. Thanks!

I would be more concerned about rusted threads in the tranny spindle.
It means you probably will now no longer be able to secure the coupler to the tranny spindle.

Thanks for replying Richappy! How would I tell if the tranny spindle has rusted? It does not look like it (just me visually looking at it) and I am still waiting on a replacement bolt to be delivered before I can try to attach my new agitator and coupler. If it will not attach is there a way to replace the spindle or is it a lost cause?

If the spindle threads are rusted so bad that a standard bolt will not stay in, the only solution is to drill it out and tap in new threads for a larger bolt.
Wait till you get the new bolt, tranny spindle threads may be ok.
