Model Number: eh..I don't that info atm Brand: Whirlpool Age: 1 - 5 years
My top loading whirlpool washer machine started acting weird tonight.
Usually when I PULL the timer knob, water will release but tonight when I PULL the knob, there was no water filling the reservoir. I PUSHED in the knob so I can restart the process but before I had even PUSHED the timer knob all the way back, the water comes out! Problem is, I have to manually stand there and hold it with a certain pressure for the water to fill the washer. If I PULL the timer knob all the way out...it does not fill. If I PUSH the timer knob all the way back...it does not fill. ..it's like in between, then I will see water. I do not know what the problem is in order to start looking for answers. The timer? The lid switch? Everything else works fine (it drains, it spins, it washes - all okay). Just the timer knob + the filling of the water (in both wash & rinse cycle). Please help! Thank you for reading & your advice! Ads By Google Related Models |

You most likely have a bad contact inside the timer mechanism. Start by replacing the timer assembly. Without a model number, we can't assist with part numbers or service information. But,You may be able to work with this information: Servicing Components in the Console 1. Remove the two Phillips-head screws securing the front corners of the console to the washer top. 2. Tip the console back on the hinges that secure the top of the console to the washer back. Removing the Timer There are two types of timers. One can be identified by a plastic body. The other has a metal body. Plastic Body NOTE: DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REMOVE THE TIMER KNOB BY PULLING FROM THE FRONT. Doing so will damage the split shaft and require replacing the entire timer assembly. 1. To remove the timer knob, push the knob in from the front. 2. At the back of the timer, pull the black tab out approximately 3/16", then pull the timer knob off the shaft. 3. Slide the timer dial from the timer hub. 4. Unplug the wiring harness connector from the timer assembly terminals. 5. Remove the one (1) Hex-head screw securing the left side of the timer assembly to the console mounting plate. Then lift the left side and slide the tabs at the right side of the timer assembly from the console mounting plate. Good Luck,
