Model Number: KAWE560WWH3 Brand: Kenmore Age: 1 - 5 years
I have a Kenmore washer with a power cord that has the grounding prong on the outlet plug MISSING so it is not grounded! The washer works FINE, but I want it safe, grounded. Also the plug's cord now is 90 degrees, down and interferes with the dryer (GE space saver 120V 15 amp 3 prong standard plug, not a "dryer plug" ) so they can't be plugged into the same outlet!! So I need to :
1. Replace the washer plug with a new cord that comes straight out (versus downwards) with grounding!! 2. Make sure it is going to work, fit the terminal slide-in at the back of the washer. Not that the in-kind expensive "kenmore washer " cord replacement has a plastic end piece with the 3 wire terminal in a wider translucent white block (terminal end, not the recepticle end) see http://www.appliancepartspros.com/Appliance-Parts/whirlpool-power-cord-item-number-ap3138837.aspx . I found was a whirlpool/kenmore replacement that has the cord coming out the plug (not at 90 degrees). It is much cheaper but it has a 2 wire (white/black neutral/hot) and the ground wire outside of the 2 wide terminal slide-in block. It is: Part Number: AP4027317 made by Whirlpool http://www.appliancepartspros.com/Appliance-Parts/whirlpool-cord--power--as-wrapped--item-number-ap4027317.aspx Can I USE THIS one and then put the ground wire on the ground slot/terminal? How do I get this to work???? The other "standard" replacement I found elsewhere has the same green ground wire with the ring, and the 2 wire white slide in block at the end: http://www.************************.com/PartDetail/Power-Cord/285800/3005?modelNumber=KAWE560WWH3%20%20%20%20%20%20%20% 20%20%20%20%20%20 So how do I put it the replacement power cord with the narrow slide in block, loose round wire??? Why not just replace the plug on the line cord instead of the line cord.

Consider this : Replace the washer power cord, with the correct part. (due to the moisture/water and possible shock hazard). Then, also replace the dryer line cord, as well. (with one that has the straight plug). Of course Denman's suggestion will work as well, and be a lot less expensive.
