After much noise and grinding, the washer has stopped spinning or agitating. The pump and motor are working fine. When I moved the washer, there was a small pile of black dust/grit under the washer (maybe a half-cup or so) and a small spot of oil (maybe a tablespoon or two).

At first I was thinking transmission, but looking at the parts diagram for the internals of he transmission, I don't see a whole lot of black parts (at least those with pictures). I also had a transmission fail on a previous washer long ago, and it dumped about a quart of oil. So now I suspect the motor/transmission coupling.

Before I separate the motor and the transmission and try to verify what's wrong, I wanted to get opinions on what the likely problem is, if possible, given what I've seen. Any help would be most welcome.

Thanks! Awesome video! How can I check that the coupling is the only problem? In other words, of something else caused the coupling to fail, how can I diagnose that?

These couplings just fail from use ... Usually no other reason ... I've replaced thousands of them and will replace thousands more in the years to come ... Glad I could help
