My wife was doing a small load of laudry today when the machine auger stopped working. I tried to run the spin cycle, but the basket did not spin around. Is there a belt(s) that control these two functions? The machine is making a sound as if a belt had slipped or broke. Any ideas? Is this machine a belt drive or direct drive?
Thanks for taking on my problem!

You would need to replace the coupler. You have to remove the cabinet, and take the pump off, and then the motor off, and there you will find the broken coupler. If you want to just pull the washer away from the wall, and lay down, and look on the back side of the motor, you will probably see the broken pieces. Tom ApplianceEducator.com
