My washer will not fill up with water it just runs the water and drain it out as long as it is running. I tried running it with the lid open and it filled up but then it did not stop and poured over. The washer is only three, any thoughs for repair?

You mention two different failures here. The first is water entering the tub and draining which would indicate a siphon problem with your drain. Try pulling it out of the wall stand pipe so it is only in about 6"-8". The other, running it with the lid open and it over filled would be a pressure switch. Both failure would be independent so maybe I need a little more clarification as to your concern before I can offer up any advice.

Am I correct to understand you pulled the hose from the stand pipe and now it fills properly? If the drain is to far into the pipe, when the washer switches from drain to fill, the water will continue to siphon because the vacuum created when water is draining was never broken. By placing the drain hose at a higher point in the drain, you allow an air gap to form preventing the siphon problem.
