My washer overfilled during the wash cycle. I moved the switch to the rinse and spin, all the water pumped out but doesn't spin, or stop pumping. When I move the switch to begin a new cycle the machine starts washing right away without filling with water. I tested the water level switch and also the fill valves. I can not find a model number but it is just a basic top loader machine. What is going on with it? Sid

Clean out the tube from the tub to the water level switch, and check the water level switch again by blowing into the tub and listening for the water level switch to click.

If everything else checks out try changing out the timer, but you will need the model number to get the right part.
