I have a Maytag top load washer model # PAV1000AWW. The tub fills with water but it will not spin or drain. I can hear a faint buzzing sound but nothing else. I was told that the problem might be the timer so I replaced it but that did not correct the problem. Any suggestions?

Take off the front panel and check for something caught inbetween the tub and basket. Then see if the pulley will turn in the spin direction. I am guessing that it will not, which means that the problem is likely with the brakes haning up or the transmission.
