My switch has 4 poles marked NEUT, LINE, MOTOR, MACHINE
I have continuity between Mtr and Machine when switch is closed, but nothing else.

Looking at the wiring diagram, you should have continuity through the switch when it is closed between the black wire coming from the timer and the red wire going to the check switch.

You should have continuity when it is closed between the red wire going to the check switch and the whilte wir coming from it.

Also there is a fuse in line in there, so check it also.

Good luck.
