Quick overview. Machine stopped spinning, makes a loud constant noise when trying to spin. Checked motor coupler, it is fine. Disassembled the machine to this point - got the spanner nut off and am trying to remove the basket. Cannot get the basket off. It moves up and down about a 1/4 inch, but no matter how hard I pull it will not come up. Am I missing a step here? Is there something else that should be preventing this from just lifting off - it feels like there is, it doesn't feel stuck with that much play int it. A photo for reference below. Thanks in advance!

Put the drive block nut on half way, pound down on it with a hammer and pull up the front of the basket, should break free.

Thanks, that did the trick. For anyone else I would note that it took my 4 rounds of pounding with a mini-sledge to break it free. A regular hammer did nothing, probably due to the confined area.

Hi:
I'm having this same issue. When you say put the drive block nut on halfway, are you talking about the spanner nut?
I'm hitting it with a small sledge around all four sections of the spanner nut, tying to avoid the spline, but it's still not budging. I'm lifting the entire unit off the floor.

Never mind - just got it. I'm good (for now)...
