The upper agitate section of the washer will not operate. I found a repair kit on line but wanted to know how disassemble the upper agitate section to confirm the repair kit will contain the required parts to repair before I purchased them on line. How do you disassemble the upper agitate section of the washer? I cannot locate where the various parts of the sections come apart.

Take the top off the agitator, reach inside and pull the cover out, that has the ridge in the middle, and then that will expose the bolt holding the agitator to the transmission. Remove it, and pull the agitator out, and then lay it on the floor, and put both off your feet on the base, and grab the top auger part, and pull quick and hard, and then it will seperate, and you will be able to replace the agitator dogs from there. Is there a trick or tool needed to remove the top off the agitator. The top of my agitator has a liquid fabric softener dispenser in it. It seema to be sealed to the rest of the agitator. Ed

pull off the fabric softener dispensor and then reach inside the center of the agitator to remove the cover over the agitator cams. using a 7/16 socket remove bolt. Remove agitator and place on floor. place feet firmly around agitator and pull upwards on upper agitator. replace cams and reverse procedure to reinstall.
