Washer will only agitate, will not spin. we changed the belt.

See if you can operate the machine with the cover off and see if the motor is turning when it is supposed to spin. If it is, the problem may be in the transmission, if not, the timer or electrical wiring may be an issue.

I have the same kind of washer, wll not wash or spin ? will fill & drain, run's all cycels but just makes noise at wash or spin cycle. How do you get cover off ? Thank you !

I had the same problem on an older model GE top loader. It ended up being the tube to the level sensor switch. It was partially clogged and the machine wouldn't go into the spin cycle because the sensor was telling it there was still water in the drum. I was able to take mine loose and blow through it to remove the clog. Total cost: $0.
