Model Number: MFW9700SQ1 Brand: Maytag Age: 1 - 5 years
This washer makes a noise at the end of the spin cycle that I have traced to the motor. The rotor is splined to the shaft and slides forward along the splines until it contacts the motor frame. I can easily push the rotor back to its proper position but would like to know what I can do to stop the rotor from sliding forward again? I fixed this by putting epoxy on the splines to stop the rotor from moving. I moved the rotor as far back on the splines at it would go and applied exoxy to the exposed splines at the front of the rotor using a thin screwdriver. I then pushed the rotor back to the centre position and let the epoxy set overnight before reinstalling the motor. It has been working well for several months now.
