Please help, I bought a used top load washer for my daughter for colledge and it will go through ALL cycles except " spin ". Motor works fine, but belt doesn't move in " spin". Door switch has no voltage when spin cycle is turned on. Timer or transmission problem??? Please help... frigidaire Mod# FWS445RFS2

Hi Mark, If the motor moves at the spin cycle, but the basket does not then it could be a bad belt or a bad transmission. Remove the belt and inspect it. In addition, check the idler pulley and the belt tension spring. With the belt "off" turn the transmission pulley CCW and see if the basket will spin. If the pulley is not moving then the transmission has gone bad. Here are the break down diagrams for the Frigidaire washer Model FWS445RFS2Gene.

Gene, Thank you for the reply. Through process of elimnation and reading your threads for hours, I realized that the tranny was bad so I traded the washer for parts and bought her a nicer, newer modle. Thanks again and and thanks for all your expertise. I will use this site again as long as your on it :)

I am having symptoms very close to this. The agitate cycle is fine, but it does nothing during the spin cycle. I've confirmed that it isn't the motor as I was able to "kick start" the spin cycle by pulling the transmission pulley in the spin cycle direction. After a few rotations, it was off and running by itself. I was able to change speeds and it completed an entire "power spin" cycle on the fastest setting as usual. I tried to do another test of this, but now the transmission pulley will not budge in that direction. Do you think this is enough info for me to be certain it's the transmission before ordering a replacement kit? It's a fridigaire top loading washer (FWS800FHS0). Thanks for any help.
