Model Number: KAWE800TAL0 Brand: Kitchen Aid Age: More than 10 years
Noticed small leak during fill cycle. Removed cover - no leaks found - all hoses & clamps dry. Started fill cycle - only water observed was small amount coming out of discharge hose when hose is at floor level. Is it normal for pump to pass small amount of water into discharge hose during filling, or is this an indication of faulty valve in pump? Before I schedule service on 22 yr old machine, trying to see if it's a possible easy fix. BTW, all other functions on washer normal.

You might check the hoses for signs of wear; especially on the edges where they connect to the pump and tub/drain hose. If the pump is letting water through, there may be damage to the impeller. It isn't servicable; you'll need to replace it.
