I've changed the motor and still the washer won't spin

If the motor is turning and it won't spin the problem is likely in the transmission or the brakes which are inside the transmission assembly.

If it is agitating during the spin cycle you need to replace the transmission.

I Don't know. I think it does but i guess i'll have to double check. So I am clear, I have to check to make sure the tub spins in both directions?

So if i disconnect the belt the i should be able to spin the tub in both diretions?

No the pulley on the transmission should move.
