Washed a load and washer stopped during the rinse cycle. Hear a ticking noise from cycle selector area. Can turn it to another cycle and it will work by seems to delay until further into cycle. Called a repairman who claims it's the timer but wants to rape me.....charge would have been 265.00.........can't afford that so if I can figure out what it is, and how to fix, I'll do it myself!

Seems like a bad timer AP3020256, but it is sealed and you cannot verify it's failure, I would just replace it. If you can get an amprobe, you could check to see if the motor is drawing excessive current in spin.
