Hello,

Washer will not drain after wash. Here's what happens:

Load size=small
Selector knob="Quick Wash": fill, then 6 min wash, then rinse, then spin.

Washer fills okay, and then washes okay for 6 min, then the Rinse light comes on, but I only hear a low hum from the motor, no draining.

I then move the selector knob to "Quick Rinse" and hum goes away. Then I press Start and the light goes back to "6 min" wash, and I hear the low hum again.

I successfully replaced the motor in a previous post 3 years ago:

The GE models are difficult for something like this because GE will not release tech info.

This sounds like your control unit is bad. The motors almost never fail, and you have already had one go bad on you.

Do you think it could be the pump?

I don't think so, but check it to see that nothing is obsctructing things. This pump is a simple 110 volt electric pump, so you can put some leads to it and see if it runs.

I took the front off and and the pump flywheel was not moving when draining was called for. The low hum told me the pump was trying to work. I took the pump out and there was lint inside the axle, preventing it from turning. I took some tweezers and a knife and cleaned out the lint, reinstalled the pump, and all is well.

So for the benefit of others, watch out for accumulating lint inside of the washer housing.

Thanks for looking!

Well thanks for the update, good for everyone to know that a problem with the pump can cause the symptoms you mentioned. Glad you got it going and good luck with it going forward.
