Take off the cabinet and check to see that the tube leading from the water level switch to the tub is clear and unblocked. That may take care of your water overflow issue.
Not sure about the timer, though. The overflow should not have affected it. It may be that it has failed and failed in a way that left the valves open.

Check the lid switch. It may be just that it is loose or a bad connection, but check it out and replace it if it is the problem.
