Model Number: WDSR2080D8WW   Brand: GE   Age: 1 - 5 years

Agitator spins freely with unit stopped but does not move in wash cycle. How do you remove the agitator? Have pulled the cap off and do not see anything else holding the agitator on. Thanks

Woods,

Your agitator"snaps" onto a plasic coupler under the agitator, and the coupler is attached to the agitator shaft with a bolt.
You'll need to pull up on the agitator, some people use a small rope or strap for leverage, once you've got the agitator off and remove the coupler bolt, you can check for stripped parts.

Thank you so much for the hint. I used some rope and a car jack and it popped right off. The coupler was stripped where it set on the shaft from the transmission

Of course, the stripped coupler, thats a good indication that the washer is being overloaded.
