Hi, I have a Gibson front loading washer that has developed a problem with the spin cycle. Instead of the high RPM spin cycle that this machine that I'm used to, it now acts like it's in agitate mode. It does pump water out of the machine.
To be more specific with the spin cycle, it spins at a low RPM for 20 seconds or so, pauses 3 to 5 seconds, and then reverses for another 20 seconds. This continues through the whole spin cycle. It doesn't matter whether it runs under normal - delicate - permanent press modes.
Any ideas?
thanks, John

Today's update: The washer now doesn't want to run for for during any portion of the cycle. I continue to hear the timer buzzing however. The motor doesn't attempt to spin very often now.
Speed control?
thanks, John

Hi John, Remove the front access panel and look for an envelope with the mini-manual. Perform the troubleshooting as described there. Here are the break down diagrams for the Frigidaire washer Model GTF1040AS0Gene.
