Model Number: ATF7000ES1 Brand: Frigidaire Age: 1 - 5 years
OK, so last week I got on here and described my problem Frigidaire washer. The problem was, and still is, that it will not go into final spin. The wash and rinse cycles seem ok, but with about 9 minutes left on a normal wash, it just shuts off as if it is done. I checked the door lock assembly, it is fine. I checked motor resistance, it is fine per specs on the schematic. I replaced the motor control board, purchased from you guys, and the problem still exists. I am not an appliance repair person and now my wife says a real repair person has to work on it. My life is spinning out of control. What next?

SAME PROBLEM AND NO REPAIRMAN FIXED IT. STARTED RESEARCHING ONLINE & FOUND SO MANY OTHERS SAYING THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM & IT IS ACTUALLY THE DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY.
SOME POSTS I'VE FOUND ON IT ARE AS FOLLOWS: YES, the door. I read up all I could and told my service tech I thought it was the door. The tech mechanic initially said it couldn't be the door since all the other cycles funtioned normally. After changing both the computer on the panel and inside, he finally realized it was the door. Once again, if your washer does everything but spin, it is a door lock problem. Note: The door does lock, but does not send the correct signal allowing the washer to spin!! I had the same problem with my Frigidaire affinity (ATF6000ES) I ran the spin diagnostic test and got the err 47 code which is the door lock. actually its was the ptc it looks like a solenoid plunger which locks the door. I was suppose to get a reading of 1500 ohms or 1.5K ohm but I had no reading (open) Mechanically it worked but without the right resistance going back to the board it would not go into a full spin IT IS THE DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY, COST AROUND $50.00 WHICH IS FAR BETTER THAN $300.00, WHAT A SERVICE REPAIR PERSON WILL CHARGE YOU. YEA IT'S THE CRAZIEST THING IMAGINABLE, THE DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY BEING THE CAUSE FOR IT TO NOT SPIN ALL THE WATER OUT. I FIXED MINE MYSELF, HAD TO TAKE IT ALL APART VERY CAREFULLY, BUT I SAVED MYSELF $250.00. YOU CAN GET THE PART ONLINE OR GO TO NEAREST APPLIANCE PARTS STORE IN YOUR CITY. ASK FOR DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY. THEY WILL KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT BECAUSE IT IS A VERY COMMON, I REPEAT VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS BRAND OF WASHING MACHINE. Same problem. Called service man. He had problem isolated in about 30 seconds. Me thinks he has seen this problem many times before. He ran diagnostics and error 47 showed up. It defined problem to door/latch problem. Repair costs: $ 300. I disected the door/latch assembly and found the problem to a $17 waxmotor. This is a soleniod that makes sure you can't open the washer during the spin cycle if power is lost to your washer. After some research on the Internet, found that Frigidare had a class action lawsuit on previous models washer with same "Wax Motor" problem. This looks like a high failure item. My washer was purchased about 14 months ago (no extended warrantee). Many reports of this component failing between 1 - 2 years. Frigidare does not sell part as it is part of an assembly Door/Latch: Part# 131763245. Wax motor - Part Details - WHIRLPOOL Motor, wax (door), Part number: AP4113933 ANY WHO... THE POSTS GO ON AN ON JUST LIKE THIS. HOPE THIS HELPS!! |

Dear Gatorgirl,
I read your post regarding the door lock assembly and am hoping you will see my post here. I have the same problem. I actually ran all the diagnostic tests myself and get error code 47. Everything on the machine works fin except it will not drain completely. I can even force spin the water out. I had the repair guy here. He told me it is the control board and will cost around $175. I showed him the numerous posts that this could possibly be the door. He told me his little electronic reading comes out normal. I still believe you are right. I was wondering if you could tell me where you got the part and how much it costs. I would at least like to try this first. Anyone else having this problem and has ordered this part could you help me? Thanks |
