i have a top load washer, and it spins an d finishes the cycle but the problem that I am having is when the cycle is done, the clothes are still wet with excess water.

My Maytag model MAV3905AWW fills and agitates, but won't go into spin/drain cycle? Is this a common problem with these models and is there something I should look for to determine the trouble?

Tilt the washer back and remove the belt. Check belt for any worn out signs. Check how freely the pump pulley rotates in both directions.

Remove the front panel and make sure the drain hoses are not clogged.

Post the results.

I'm going to hook it back up and try the things you suggested. It is a back up washer I have at a whse. that's been broken for several years but I don't want to discard it because it is very unused before it broke.
