Hi,

I have a GE washer that will not automatically move from cycle to cycle. I believe it is the timer as as cycles work fine if you manually move the knob from wash to rinse to spin. Also the timer itself it very loud like a bad egg timer

If this is the case is replacing the timer a do it your self project?

Thanks

I think it is the timer, and yes, it is a pretty easy job that you can do yourself.

First take off the timer knob. It is held on by a plastic clip which you can remove with needle nose pliers after you pull the knob out. The take out the screws on top of the console to get to the inside of the console, remove the old timer and replace it with the new one. Just make sure the wires go back as they were originally.
