This washer quit spinning (agitator works) . I found some metal pieces in the bottom of the drum . I then removed the agitator and saw that the drum hub was coming apart (so no drum agitaor connection ) . What was the cause ? Will replacing the drum hub take care of the problem (an other thing to troubleshoot and replace ? Where do I find a brief tutorial on the R&R for the drum ) - Thanks

I guess that the better name for this part is basket (or tub) support hub .

Usually, you pull it off with a gear puller, in your case, you might need to replace the transmission.
