my whirlpool washer purchased in 2002, will fill up, and agitate, on any timing cycle, but it wont spin, or drain. could this be the timer or the switch? or something else ? thank you

Almost certainly the lid switch. Test it or by pass it, and if it is bad, replace it and you will be all set. An easy and inexpensive repair.

how do i bypass it? or test it for that matter.. also its very difficult to get to, will i be able to slide off the whole back panel or top so i can get to it....thank you

This video will show you how to get to it. Use a meter to check continuity, or a solid wire inserted into the two non green wire terminals on the connector coming from the console to by pass it.

thank you, that was the problem..the lid switch just about fell apart when i got to it, bypassed it and the machine worked...ordered my part from appliancepartspros.com.
