DD, Did you have any failure codes in the display ? Does this grinding noise occurr the whole cycle, in the wash cycle or the drain/spin cycle ? You can't access or remove the tub bearing , it is pressed in at the factory, and you'll require an outer tub assembly. Part number: AP4316595 The bearings don't usually make a grinding noise, there is more like a growling noise in the spin cycle or chirpping/squealing noise in the wash cycle. When you dismantled the machine, did you notice if the tub hub assembly had any damage to the drive pins on either part,if they are damaged, the tub wont sit on the hub properly, and makes a grinding noise as well. Part number: AP3892170 Did you check the two pumps and hoses on the bottom of the tub, to see if there was something(paper clip, bobbi pin, etc) inside the hose or housing rubbing or stuck to the impeller ? I think you'll find your problem in one of these areas versus the tub bearing, but I'll have a better idea with your next response post.

DD, Thanks for the update information. Yes you need to start by checking or replacing the drain pump. Part number: AP4365341 That's the most likely culprit. Thanks, and Good Luck,

DD, There are several "tools" you can try, Needle Nose pliers, Crochette Needle, Awl or Ice pick. You'll probably be better off just replacing the pump, and checking pockets when you load the washer with clothes.
