Model Number: A7500 Brand: Maytag Age: More than 10 years
My Maytag A7500 washing machine blows out it's fuse when it is plugged in. What is the most probable cause (or causes) of this and what steps should I take to determine which parts are needed to correct this problem? Before it started blowing fuses it would occasionally quit between cycles until I pushed in the timer knob, turned it to another setting, and pulled out the knob again, then it even stopped responding to that tactic.

Here is your parts breakdown
Model A7500 Here is a service manual http://www.servicematters.com/maytag...s/16000131.pdf Could be many things Open up the control console and take look. Sounds like you have a dead short somewhere. Unplug it and measure across the line cord for resistance, if you get 0 ohms then you have a dead short for sure. Note you will need a decent meter to do this and set it at a low scale. Try different timer settings, it may help localize the problem.
