Washer starts to agitate instead of fill tub with water when start knob is pulled.

Sounds like your water pressure switch is the problem. First clean out the tube going from the switch to the tub. If that does not fix things, and it probably won't, try changing out the water level switch.

If that doesn't work post a model number and tell us what happened.
