I have a Kenmore compact washer with inconsistent malfunction:

Often fails to spin, either in mid-cycle, or in Drain&Spin. After several D&S cycle attempts (each time waiting the several minutes of drain, to see IF it will spin), one time it will just randomly work. Sometimes works 2 or 3 times in a row, then goes back to not spinning. Have made up to 8 attempts before success.
When it fails to spin, it simply turns itself off, and makes no warning noise.
When it does spin, it seems to spin just fine, with no additional noise or symptom.
Is there a likely part that is suspect?
