My home washer will not spin on its own. I have to turn the basket clockwise 1/2 turn and then it will spin.

History:
It would not spin at all, so I changed the transmission.

Since then, I have taken it apart again to turn the clutch over because I thought I might have put it in upside down since there is a tab on one side of the spring longer than the other.

Currently:
It still will not spin on its own. I have to turn the basket clockwise 1/2 turn and then it will spin.

It washes fine. It spins great after I get it going by turning the basket. The brake seems fine, the white plastic piece releases it and it turns good. I put the spring of the clutch on the opposite side of the white plastic piece that releases the brake. I have tried the clutch both ways rightside up and unside down and get the same result: I have to turn the basket clockwise 1/2 turn and then it will spin.

Normally the clutch is the problem here, but if you sure it is ok, check the drive block. You will need a special spanner wrench to get to it.
