Washer stopped spinning. I took the motor off and the rubber portion of the coupler was lying on the floor next to the motor, only 1 "tooth" left on the trans side piece, motor side were gone. I know I have to replace the coupler, but when I try to spin the basket manually it wont move. The transmission spins with no effort in both directions by turning it at the coupler. 1) Should the basket spin freely with the motor removed? 2) Do I need to have the power connected and the timer in a spin cycle to move the basket? Even though the motor is unplugged/removed? 3) Should the brake system be active with no power to the unit? Any advice/Info would be greatly appreciated, My sister is freaking out, I just replaced the agitator dogs' 2 days ago. P.S. I removed the agitator to see if anything was lodged under it, but it's clear. And the pump wasn't clogged.

Don't worry about trying to spin the basket or the brakes. Go ahead and replace the coupling and you should be fine.
If not, let us know what happens after you have replaced the coupling. Be careful not to jam it together and I think you will be up and running.
