Hi, thanks in advance for your help.

The bearing near the rear of the motor, close to the pulley is noisy. Have disassembled the motor and corroborated that. I have purchased the bearing but I was NOT able to remove the pulley before the bearing could be removed. A brand new puller broke without moving the pulley at all.

Although a new motor is a valid option, I rather replace the bearing. ;)

Is there any technique to remove the pulley? Any special puller designed for that purpose? Or.... the pulley was pressed under very special conditions, perhaps frozen shaft plus hot pulley.... making it impossible to remove?

Again, thanks in advance. :)

I do not think the motor is meant to be serviced, so about the best advice I can give you is to take it to a motor rebuilding shop if there is one in your area and see if they can help you out.

Good luck.

Thanks sidfink43, I appreciate the answer.

I took the motor to a shop but their minimum charge was $85. Not a good ROI.

I identified an "Alternator Rebuilding Shop" and may take it there tomorrow.

My question was about any manufacturing process (such as using adhesives on the pulley/shaft) which would have rendered impossible to remove the pulley.

Even though the motor was not meant to be serviced.... I enjoy the challange to STILL service it. Keep in mind that my gallblader was not meant to be serviced either, yet..... well, you know what I mean.... ;)

Thanks again...... Abel

Well good for you!, I agree with what you are trying to do, and have obviously serviced a lot of "not meant to be serviced" items myself.

I have no idea on how the manufacturing process was performed on this motor, my guess is industrial strength presses were used which is why you are having problems.

Good luck, stick with it and hope you get it going.
