I just bought a used GE Washer. It's the manual control knob type where you press the control knob in and spin it around to your setting and you hear the clicking sound to let you know you are turning the knob. When you get to the setting you want, you pull it out, and it starts. The problems is, I'm having to push in harder and harder to get the clicking sound and to get the "Setting Arrow" on the collar underneath the knob, to move. It's to the point the "Setting Arrow" on the collar will hardly move at all.

My question is will replacing the "TIMER ASM WASHER" part list #100 and part number "WH12X10300" probably be the failing issue here? It appears this is the mechanical part of moving the dial to the desired settings.

I appreciate any advice before I commit to an expensive replacement part.

Brett,

Glad you posted before buying any parts, because this is likely a very inexpensive fix.

The knob has ridges on the inside which engage the timer to turn it. On these GE models the ridges are always wearing off, so replacing the knob is likely to be the fix you need.

To remove the knob, pull it out and use needle nose pliers to pull a clip that is between the kob and the dial. Replace the knob and you should be all set for very few bucks.

Here is an exploded view of your console, you can see the knob and clip. For some reason the Knob, number 8, is not listed as a part but you can call APP and get one.
