I have a Roper washer that will not spin when in the cycle & it makes a squeaking sound I can turn with my free hand no problem I checked the drainage hose & it is clear. I am also having problem getting the back of to listen to where the noise is coming from I took out 4 screws at the corners but still can't seem to get it loose. Are other screws holding it in place?
Not sure what else to do at this point.
Thanks Richard

I have installed the new clutch assembly parts, machine still will not spin & also will not now agitate either.
Please let me know what you think the problem is.
Thanks,

If the motor is turning when in agitation mode and the clutch is not turning when in spin mode you may have problems with the coupling; may not have gone on correctly. Check and see what the motor is doing when it is supposed to be turning, that will give you a good clue as to what is going on.

On removing the motor from the transmission I found that one of the white couplings had a crack all the way through on one side. would this be enough to cause the problem I am having with the spin or agitating ?

It sure could, replace it and see if that fixes things. (Even if it does not you need to replace it anyway)
